Why is my gas detector beeping?

In the chemical industry, Fixed gas concentration detector is installed to detect the working environment in real time in order to protect the property and personal safety of the employees. Under normal circumstances, the gas detector beeps when the concentration of the gas being measured exceeds a preset value, and the instrument emits an audible and visual alarm signal to remind staff to take emergency measures.

However, in the process of using the gas detector, the staff often reflect that sometimes the gas detector will keep beeping even when the gas concentration is not high. So, what causes this situation? And how to solve it? The following Fosensor, take you to one by one to rule out.

1. Gas leakage in the measured environment

Once the gas detector alarm occurs, first of all, we should determine whether there is a gas leak in the detection area. If the alarm is caused by the high concentration of the leaking gas, under the condition of confirming the safety, first of all, close the solenoid valve and open the doors and windows for ventilation. Wait for the gas concentration to drop to a suitable range, the detector alarm will be automatically lifted.

2. The alarm value is set unreasonably

The gas alarm mainly has two kinds of low and high alarms, the preset value of the alarm value should be set according to the corresponding detection of gas. If the value of the low alarm set too low, then the detector as long as the "smell" a little gas, will always be in the alarm state. Similarly, the alarm value is set too high also can not, because even if there is a gas leakage problem is also difficult to detect, will bring a major threat to production safety.

3. Alarm instrument is not calibrated on time

If the alarm is not calibrated in time, it will not be measured correctly, which will lead to continuous alarms. Generally speaking, manufacturers recommend that the calibration cycle does not exceed one year, if the use of harsh environments, often detect higher concentrations of gases, or the instrument is often hit, etc., the calibration cycle can be shortened to half a year or three months, or even shorter. When calibrating, you need to pass the standard sample gas to the detector first, and then calibrate after the display value is stable.

4. Sensor is damaged

We all know that the sensor is the core component of the gas detector. When used for a certain period of time, the alarm value will appear offset phenomenon. This time you need to replace the sensor in time to ensure accurate results.

Industry data show that the use of different principles of the sensor, the service life of the gas detector is not the same. Generally speaking, the life of electrochemical and combustible gas alarms in about 2-3 years, infrared principle in about 3-5 years.

5. Dirt in the detector

Detector in the work, the detection results are not only by the temperature, humidity and pressure and other factors, but also with the use of the instrument itself. When the detector into the dirt or liquid, will also lead to large errors in the detection results, thus triggering the alarm phenomenon. This time you need to test whether the gas detector is clean, whether to clean and dry it.

6. Equipment line problems

Problems with the wiring will lead to the alarm instrument host can not patrol to the detector, thus issuing an alarm fault. If it is a bus system wiring method, there is no 24V voltage provided to the detector, it will also issue a fault signal. If there is no power supply to the instrument, the circuit needs to be checked and repaired. You can use a multimeter to test the positive and negative terminals to ensure that there is 24V DC power input.

In fact, in many cases, the gas detector keeps alarming not because of gas leakage, but due to the operator's improper way of using it, or the instrument itself is damaged by human beings. It is recommended that after purchasing a gas detector, you must use and maintain it in strict accordance with the instructions. Otherwise, the alarm instrument has been in the abnormal alarm state, it is difficult to play a warning role.
